Week 6 - Day 4 : Acts 2 & Prayer
Read Acts 2.
God is actively pursuing all people to bring them back to Himself. Spend time reflecting
on the significance of God spending His Spirit to dwell inside each of us. Where in the
Old Testament, God’s presence had been signified by a cloud, fire, or even the Ark of the
Covenant, after Jesus’ resurrection His presence comes to dwell in all who believe. The
visible sign of His presence in Acts 2 was tongues of fire.
In the Old Testament, where God had confused the languages of the world at Babbel
and scattered people all over the earth (see Genesis 11), in Acts 2 He now is reconciling
all people back to Himself. Everyone could understand the Gospel in their own language.
The marker for the start of the church was Pentecost- the Holy Spirit coming in tongues
of fire.
What is to be the result of this momentous occasion?
What is God calling people to?
More specifically, what is He calling you to?
Pray: Thank you, Holy Spirit, for dwelling inside me. Forgive me for forgetting I have you
with me and for doubting the power you can give me. Spirit, fill me with your fruit so I
can experience supernatural love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control. Spirit, give me wisdom, help me to be aware of you, and
help me to rely on you. Holy Spirit, it is you who causes growth and transformation in me, so do your work. I surrender to what you have for me. I’m willing to take steps of
faith. May today be a marker forever in my faith journey as the day where I surrendered
fully to you, trusting more deeply, and following whole-heartedly.
